Last assessed blog
We had our first history Tfu project and we are tasked to have an oral interview with past Victorians. Matthew and I teamed up and we thought of a person who was a past Victorian but we do not know his name. But thank goodness, we know that he is a teacher in this school. I wondered if the dress code and the school rules in the past are similar now. There must have a slight modification in school personnel and the facilities in the school. Naturally, his aspirations and mindset of the motto “ Nil sine labore ” are probably different from ours. Wonder who are his favourite teachers and subjects are? We had an interesting English lesson with our form teacher, Mr Hamilton. I learnt numerous new words like ‘trite’ and ‘banal’. Mr. Hamilton used a Cantonese accent to narrate a passage to the class and it was very interesting. I was shocked to see the line of students in the library borrowing books during recess time. We had to complete another Tfu project during Chinese class and we were given extra time to complete the unfinished work on Friday. Following the lesson, we had Literature lesson. I was expecting to receive the literature test paper but Mr. Daniel Tan forgot to bring the papers. We had to act out Scene One Act Two in Macbeth. Stanley’s group were the first to act in the play but it was a little mundane in the speech though. After that, we had Maths lesson. Miss Lim was our maths teacher and she was very strict in her teaching. We were learning “Expansion and Factorisation of Algebraic Expressions” and the types of factorisation. Wonder how will Mick and Han Wei react during OPW lesson tomorrow?

A special day
Have any of you been to the pasar malam(night market)? My family went there yesterday night and we enjoyed it. There were numerous things on sale such as watches, wallets, antiques, books and sumptous food. There are different brands of watches on sale but mostly are for children. I was shocked to see leather wallets on sale and wondered if they acquired the leather from poachers. If my assumption is true, then I pity the animals which were killed for their skins. I cannot believe the heartlessness of the poachers and the buyers. According to the world wide fund's slogan"If the buying stops, the killing can too." I was astonished at the sight of an array of antiques , such as old porcelain vases, bronze statues of buddhas and copper coins used during the olden days of ancient China. Numerous books of different types were laid on tables which comprises of storybooks for the young and old, recipe books, knowledge books and comics. There are many novels and fiction books for sale by renowned authors like J.K Rowling and Roald Dahl. Not only that there are also books on the Star wars series. There are knowledge books on aircraft, submarines, guns, history of england and cars. Last of all, there are the local delicacies and drinks. The vendors were busily trying to attract attention of the passer-bys to buy their food and drinks. In this competition, the vendor with the loudest voice succeeds. Though, we did not purchase anything, I enjoyed the experience as it is something special in Singapore. Well, it's getting late and I am turning in.
My pet chickens. Do they remind you of fried chicken? Wonder how do they look like when they are fried?

Fridae
As stated by the word "Fridae”, it means Friday if you do not know. I had a very unlucky day, forgetting to bring my books to school and never completing the Chinese Tfu work on time. (Sigh.) I cannot believe that I had left my maths and history textbook at home due to my carelessness but thank goodness, they are not needed on that day. During the Chinese lesson, we were rushing through the work but there was only twenty minutes allocated so most of us did not managed to complete it except for some. I am a little upset but it is no use crying over spilt milk, I can only work harder the next time. I learnt quite a lot during P.E theory though. I was a little surprised that there were many different types of exercises and the uses of warm-ups and cool-downs. I was always amazed that the History teacher, Mr. Thiru had enough time to finish teaching his curriculum but the Maths teacher, Miss Lim did not. Maths has started to become more exciting as the topic is about algebra, which is one of my favourite topics. I was a little shocked to find out that Chess begins at 1.30 pm instead of 2.30 pm. I wonder why they had to change the date from Thursday to Friday. Most of the chess players were unable to make it to the lesson due to the change in time. I viewed my fellow friends playing and I challenged others to the game. Well, I lost in some games but failures are paths to success, so I can hope to think of more strategies. Signing off.

thursday
I was surprised at the twist of events today. I played floorball and I ran the 100m shuttle run during PE lesson. I was the slowest runner in the shuttle run and I completed it during 19+ secs due to my shoes slipping out. I was a little disappointed with the results though but failures are the first step to success. But Stacius had an accident and resulted in swollen and bleeding fingers. The injury looked rather serious but he did not seem to want to apply ointment on it. Why do people want to keep their face? I just cannot understand. I was a little excited about having the first Science practical lesson. Well, my hopes of having a little fun was not dashed after all. The agar blocks are very reactive in the sense that they change colours the moment they are in contact with the hydrochloric acid. I was a little surprised when the agar blocks and the liquid turned totally pink. The best part was during the CCA session especially when the secondary ones did their first duty. I must admit that although I was a little shorter than most of them, I was still their senior. But I did not bully them the way the secondary twos did because I felt that this kind of behaviour should not be practised in this society. One thing though, I did not expect that the secondary ones did not respect me as their senior but I do not mind as long as they respect the others. Maybe, I should judge the minority as a whole. Anyway, i am looking forward to going for chess tomorrow!

opw work
I had my first OPW project work yesterday and I was nervous about it as it was my first time having this work with a bonus percentage if the project grade was an A. I grouped up with Jun Hui, a quiet and shy person, Aloysius, an independent and introvert person, Mick, a serious person with a strict "no no" attitude and last of all, Han Wei, one who likes to clown around and fond of contradicting others. Well, with Han Wei and Mick around, the natural enemies never get along well with each other and they always end up in an argument. Mick never seem to be fond of Han Wei's actions. Both of them never appreciate the affinity shared between us to be classmates and caused unity between the team to be broken. Mick was probably frustrated about Han Wei's actions and his personalities. The quarrel began at the first discussion but we managed to stop them , however, it took a turn for the worst at the later discussions especially when Han Wei ignored Mick's speech which result in another round of words. We tried to prevent the bitter argument but to no avail. We had no choice but to separate the two and to talk some sense into them and asked them to put aside their feud and to contribute to the project. To our relief, it managed to work and they were more united in the team. I cannot seem to comprehend on why they cannot admit their own faults and forgive the other party. If you have any ideas, could you tell me?

monitors
Well, unlike the teachers, my monitors are worlds apart despite having the same duties.(weird, don't you think?). Derek , the strict monitor nearly had a clash with the classmates.(sigh, why can't he learn to be friendlier). Ryan, on the other hand, is a much friendlier and easy to get along.

school
School is very boring especially when it is the start of a new school term and more boring subjects. Not only that, there are also fierce teachers who can't wait to punish you. What's more, there are the exams too. Well, I'm bored. Sigh.
